Party Definitions

JUST A QUICK THOUGHT HERE:

WE HAVE TWO MAJOR PARTIES IN OUR GOVERNMENT, THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A DEMOCRACY, HENCE THE NAME DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

SO WHERE DOES THE REPUBLICAN PARTY GET IT’S NAME?

THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA

THE UNITED SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLIC (now Russia)

THE SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIET NAM

BY DEFINITION A REPUBLIC IS A FORM OF GOVERNMENT MAINTAINED BY A STATE OR COUNTRY WHOSE SOVEREGNTY IS BASED ON CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED AND WHOSE GOVERNANCE IS BASED ON REPRESENTATION. “RULE OF LAW” IS AN ESSENTIAL FEATURE OF A REPUBLIC.

THOUGH A REPUBLIC AND A MONARCHY ARE CONSIDERED MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE OF EACH OTHER, THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN A REPUBLIC AND A MONARCHY DRAWS A FINE LINE THAT REQUIRES A WHOLE NEW WORD TO FILL IN THE GAP BETWEEN THE TWO. WHEN A REPUBLIC DRAWS NEARER TO BECOMING A MONARCHY OR A MONARCHY DISPLAYS TRAITS OF A REPUBLIC THEY MUST BE CONSIDERED THAT OTHER THING THAT IS NEITHER MONARCHY OR REPUBLIC, AN OLIGARCHY.

BUT THIS LINE IS SO FINE THAT THE ONLY REAL CONCLUSION WOULD BE THAT IN PRACTICE, A REPUBLIC AND A MONARCHY ARE REALLY THE SAME THING, JUST CLEVERLY DISQUISED TO SOUND INNOCENT, IF THE PEOPLE DON’T WANT TO BE RULED BY A MONARCH THEN THE MONARCH SIMPLY CHANGES HIS TITLE TO  REPUBLICAN.

JUST A THOUGHT.

  1. Interesting thought, though one should keep in mind that once upon a time, the political beliefs of the Republicans were more similar to those of modern day Democrats, and vice versa.
    Democrats, ideally, put more responsibility on the people, and less in the government. The strength in this system is that it is easier to avoid corruption, by letting the people decide directly. The inherent flaw is that having to vote on every little matter is exhausting and not very time-efficient. Also, not every person is informed enough about a particular issue to make a sound judgment on it.
    Republicans, ideally, elect representatives to make decisions based on their knowledge and their constituent’s wishes. The advantage of this is that it makes voting on issues much faster, since you only need to count the representatives, not the entire population. The representatives are (presumably) intelligent, and their only job is to be informed about the issues they will vote on, thus ensuring a more intelligent decision. The problem with this system is that corrupt officials can easily infect the system, ignoring the will of the people in favor of their own personal agenda. As the 2000 election showed, it also has a rare chance of resulting in a decision that is different than the will of the people, accident or not.

    Both have their advantages and their glaring flaws, so it’s really up to the country whether they want one or the other.

  2. Personally, I would prefer neither as you and everyone else here knows that knows me from b4b, I still consider politics itself a 6000 year old mistake because no form of government ever was or ever will be free from corruption, just as all forms of government have always been doomed to failure in the end. Some folks say our is different because it’s lasted 200 years, but governments have lasted longer in the past, but they all fell in the end, so will ours.

  3. Well, as the great Winston Churchill once said, “It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.”

    It’s hardly the best, but it’s the best we have so far.

  4. He was absolutely right too

  5. Personally, I like Enlightened Despotism, where one smart, responsible, caring person has all/most of the power. The problem with this is that it has no persevering power. After that good dude dies, how are you going to make sure whomever’s next in line is as competent as the last guy?

    Sadly, Captain America and Optimus Prime will not be leading the country ;_;

  6. I think government could be better without political parties. It would force people (in thought) to vote for someone based on the issues rather than party affiliation…if they voted. I think it was Washington that said something to the effect of political parties would be a major mistake for our government…and as soon as they started someone got shot. 🙂

    I vote Optimus Prime.

  7. think about the bushmen of the kalihari, they have no form of government whatsoever, and their lives are happier and simpler than anyone’s on earth

  8. But they don’t have the Internet, so I wouldn’t be very happy.

  9. Ahhh, but EB these people never even heard of the internet. Do you think you would miss it if you had never heard of it? I know I was perfectly happy before the internet came along. In fact I was happy even when there were still only three TV networks, ABC, CBS and NBC. The reason you wouldn’t be happy is because you’ve already been exposed to the internet, if it didn’t exist you wouldn’t miss it. 😀

  10. True that.

    Besides, there’s nothing on all those t.v. channels anyways. ^_^

  11. Just another weird little thought here: It’s all in the words and the words seem to fit the parties.
    Liberal = giving
    Conservative = stingy

    • You are totally stupid. Liberal is the lost of rights provided by the founders of the nation, and you having to now kiss your representatives ass and beg for everything because your rights have been taken away. You don’t own anything any longer, not even you life.

      Conservative is in reference to what the founders of our nation gave to us so we may live in a land that is free and not a police state that the muslem nigger president now in the black house has in store for you. Don’t worry, in a few months you will be much too busy trying to survive in the new totalitarian america to even think about what conservative freedom really means.

  12. Her’s a cute one for you, check out the video this lady posted on her site. It’s from the Daily Show, and in my opinion no one is better at getting the truth out of people in a hilarious manner than John Stewart.

  14. What is worse than a liberal nigger in the white house? A muslem nigger is the most worse thing to ever happen to the Republic, but now that is exactly what is sitting in the white hosue, a muslem nigger whose very place of birth is more than very questionable. He also has a majority of liberals in the senate and house, so no doubt we will have socialized medicine, and you will see gun control being enforced. It will be aright if you are a muslem and want to kill a white people and christians, and ol’bama nigger will give them a full pardon for dong so. Kiss you freedoms provided by the our founders goodbye, because the obama government now owns you.
